Santa Cruzin! 10/16/09

TGIF as they say and what a nice day it turned out to be with temps topping out at 84 degrees. The proverbial heat wave but a great day to get out and about. The mornings are now routine and both Sara and Mills had good school experiences. I picked up Sara at 12:15 and we went and got croissants for afternoon snack. After snack we ripped open two boxes from Nana McAden which contained Halloween costumes, Princess Lea for Sara and Darth Vader for Mills. The costumes lead to many questions about the movie and so we decided to watch Return of the Jedi because we needed some rest time before our evening activities (more on that in a bit). As the movie unfolded I was treated to a deluge of questions about every tiny detail in the movie. Is that a good guy or a bad guy? Why did Luke Skywalker make C3PO rise up above the ground? Is Darth Vader really Luke's father? I am not kidding when I say there wasn't a single moment during the entire story that one of the kids was quiet and without question. But I made it through and we had fun.

After the question festival we went to Nan's office because the college had a big welcome pot luck shin dig. Even the president of the college stopped by to welcome Nan and so it was a good Friday afternoon. We then headed down to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk to see the sights and walked out on the wharf to check out the sunset and the sea lions. The sea lions were quite loud and boisterous much to the delight of the kids. We decided to have dinner on the wharf as it was getting late. Not the best food, but a relaxing atmosphere after a long week. Below are a few pictures of the crew Santa Cruzin!

Same smile don't you think?

These sea lions are REALLY loud, but they are also the mascot of Sara's school.

And an iPhone picture of the sunset
