Our first Banana Slug 10/23/09

We found two banana slugs today and began the process of making a habitat until one of them 'escaped' the temporary cage. So we decided their natural habitat was a better choice. They are cute little creatures, with eyes that pop out of their body. The slimy trail they leave behind as they travel might be yucky to some, but I think it is cool because you can follow their path. Sara doesn't like their slimy bodies, but she thinks that they are neat to watch. They have over 2000 'legs' and actually get around quite rapidly, for a slug.

Today was otherwise dominated by last minute cleaning for Graham, school for the kids, and a student services 'retreat' at Aptos Park for Nan. I got to get in one last mountain bike ride in before my Saturday early morning departure from San Jose.

We met our neighbors who have a third grader girl, Maya, and a 4 year old son, Tosh. They seem like fairly cool people so hopefully we've made some new friends. The kids got along great with each other and we are already planing a play date sometime soon.

We celebrated my last night here for the next four weeks with Sushi To Go! YUM!!
This is the last Santa Cruzin! blog from Graham. Nan says she'll take up the task of keeping the blog alive, so check back often for updates.

I can't wait to be back Santa Cruzin!
