Perfect Sunday afternoon!
Today we had planned to hit the trails again, but the kids were moving a little slow this morning after their mtb ride Saturday. We opted to laze around the house in the a.m. then headed to the beach shortly after lunch. The plan was to head to the beach for a few hours, and then perhaps find a park with swings. After about 2 hours at the beach everyone was wet, sandy and thirsty. we headed home to pick up dry clothes and snacks (mom forgot the bag she packed), changed and headed to Hidden Beach park, which we had heard was pretty cool. Well the park was cool, but even cooler was the beach access. After about 10 minutes of park time we headed down the trail to the beach. What a gem, quiet and tucked away, there were hardly any folks on this part of the beach. We were on the beach all of 5 minutes when we realized that the few folks who were on the beach were headed down to the water to check something out. Turns out whales were breaching incredibly close to shore. What a beautiful sight! We proceeded to hang out and whale watch and play on the beach (low tide) until sunset. Mills and Sara Rose are quickly turning into beach bums- which warms my heart. Some of my favorite activities wrapped into one weekend- mountain biking in the hills and kickin' it on the beach with the kids. I would say that the NorCal lifestyle is fitting us just right!
