Today was the much anticipated field trip to see the big trees with Mills' preschool. Sara Rose was out of school today and I had arranged to have the day off, so we made it a family fieldtrip, which made it extra special! Mills is accustomed to being the little brother tagging along on big sisters school field trips, so he was excited to introduce us to his classmates. We met at 9:30am at Learning Montessori to caravan to Henry Cowell State Park in Felton. After loading up 7 carloads of kids (from 2yrs to 12 yrs) we headed down the road. Fortunately because the public schools were out today we had several big sisters along to help with the little ones, this made for a much less hectic outing. Ten minutes on the road and we were in the mountains and ready to hike. The kids were all on their best behavior (not one meltdown) and had a wonderful time playing in the leaves, hiding in the base of the redwoods, hiking, picnicking, looking for banana slugs, playing games and exploring Roaring Railroad (the old railroad beside the state park).
Of course Sara Rose was just happy to babysit!

The gang!
